How to Unscramble Words
Enter your letters
Type up to 15 letters into the box. Capital or lowercase letters both work, and spaces are ignored.
Add blank tiles
Use ? or * for each blank, up to three. The tool tries every letter of the alphabet in that spot and highlights the letters a blank supplied.
Pick your word
Results are grouped by length with Scrabble points beside each word. Sort by points to bring the highest scoring plays to the top.
Word Unscramble Examples
Enter PLANETS and the word unscrambler returns 227 words. The longest finds are PLANETS and PLATENS, followed by shorter words such as PLANET, PASTEL, SLANT and PANEL.
Missing a letter? Enter BRIGH? and the blank completes BRIGHT. Shorter results such as BRIG, GRIT and RIGHT appear further down the list, with every blank letter highlighted.
Playing for points? Enter ZEBRAS and sort by Scrabble points. BRAZES leads with 17 points, followed by ZEBRAS at 17 and BRAZE at 16.
Anagram Solver for Exact Matches
When you only want words that use every single letter, switch to the anagram solver. It lists exact rearrangements first, so LISTEN returns ELINTS, ENLIST, INLETS, SILENT and TINSEL, and then shows the shorter words hiding inside.
Word Unscrambler FAQ
How does the word unscrambler work?
When you unscramble letters here, the tool compares them against a dictionary of more than 170,000 words and keeps every word that can be spelled with the tiles you have. Results are grouped by length, longest first.
Can I use blank tiles or wildcards?
Yes. Type ? or * for each blank, up to three per search. Letters supplied by a blank are highlighted and score zero points, just like a blank tile in a real game.
Does it help with Scrabble and Words With Friends?
Every result shows its Scrabble letter score, and you can sort by Scrabble or Words With Friends points to bring the highest scoring words to the top. Board bonuses such as double word squares are not included.
What is the difference between unscrambling letters and solving an anagram?
When you unscramble letters you can use any number of them. An anagram uses every letter exactly once. Use the anagram solver when you need a perfect rearrangement of the whole set.
Which dictionary does iWordUnscrambler use?
We use the ENABLE word list, a public domain dictionary that many word game players rely on, with offensive and explicit words removed. Official tournament dictionaries change from time to time, so a few results may differ from the list your game uses.
